About
Quiet figures with lowered eyes, and colour that flows like water.
Giuseppe “Beppe” Stasi was born in 1993 in Longobucco, in the Sila Greca area of Calabria. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and then in Rome, where he has lived and worked since 2016.
His painting centres on portraiture and the figure, above all the female figure. Colour is left to flow: acrylics, watercolour, thinned oil and soap meet on the surface, and form emerges from what the water holds on to or carries away. The result is a liquid kind of painting, where control and chance work together.
Alongside the canvas he works for film, television and publishing, and teaches illustration.
